On May 23rd in the Imperial Ballroom at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, the finalists’ pieces of the Rapid Jewelry 3D Printing Design Competition were displayed on the runway in an exciting 3D printed Jewelry fashion show Exhibition-In-Motion by Design Museum Boston and
The fashion show was an innovative display of technology-driven fashion modeled by Urbanity Dance. There were three different collections modeled on the runway:
- Nervous System of Somerville, MA
- LACE collection by Jenny Wu of Los Angeles, CA
- Finalists of Rapid Jewelry Design Competition by Design Museum Boston and sponsored by Solidscape and Keyshot
The show was emceed by Alexander Zafris with the Executive Director of the Design Museum Foundation, Sam Aquillano, with music by DJ DayGlow. At the end of the show, Urbanity Dance put on a special dance performance wearing all of the innovative 3D printed jewelry pieces. Five of the Rapid Jewelry finalist pieces were casted by Carrera Casting of New York, NY.
At the end of the show, Richard Funnell, Global Training Specialist of Keyshot, and Fabio Esposito, President and CEO of Solidscape, entered the stage to announce the third and second place winners.
- Third Place: Marie Sleeve Bracelet by Sunyoung Cheong of Topeka, Kansas
- Second Place: Oath Ring by Jimin Jung of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- First Place: Mahuika Necklace by Han Yin Hsu of Los Angeles, California
